Cosmetic Surgery Redefining Middle Age

A recent study by AC Nielsen reveals that cosmetic surgery is not only changing how people look, but also changing how they feel about aging, and what constitutes middle age.

This study surveyed people from 42 countries and found that 60% of Americans (who are the world's biggest consumers of cosmetic surgery and anti-aging skincare) believe that sixties is the new middle age.

Globally, three out of five consumers felt that 40 is the new thirty.

Longer lifespans, better eating habits, and a high rate of disposable incomes are helping women hold back the aging cycle.

Russian women, typically the world's biggest consumers of luxury goods, were most likely to consider cosmetic surgery to maintain their looks. 48% of Russian women would consider it, compared to 28% of Italians and Portuguese women, and 25% of American, British, and French women.

Anti-aging cosmetic surgery and skin care are the fastest growing segments of the skin care market.
